- Alterations to the existing air intake louvres to enable additional air to be drawn into the power room.
- Installation of a run and standby air extract system within the power room.
- Installation of welded pipe in pipe fuel systems.
DBS took on the role as Principal Contractor to complete this major power upgrade in a live data centre involving a new HV Transformer, HV Switchgear, LV Switchgear and 3No 1,383kW limited-time power generator sets with 45,000 litre belly tanks.
The scope included the decommissioning of the existing generator sets that were located inside the building, along with the excavation and removal of the buried fuel tank from the car park area.
Initially temporary generators were set up in the car park and cabled to the existing output switchboards. Once the site was proved stable the works could commence de-commissioning the existing generator sets, generator controls and switchgear with the temporary generators ensuring that the site power was maintained. Standby generators were available to support the live site at all times.
A new concrete slab was formed at the rear of the building where the 3x new generators and belly tanks were to be sited. The new HV & LV switchgear and generator control panels were installed into the space that was made available by the removal of the existing generators from the power room.
The completed installation provided the client with double the power capacity to the building than originally available.
