Our Projects

AstraZeneca R&D was situated on the edge of Loughborough and was a dedicated Research & Development site. It encompassed all major R&D functions along with essential support services and infrastructure necessary to achieve its goal to discover and develop new medicines. The site was home to the Advanced Science and Technology Laboratory which investigated and evaluated leading edge technology.

Derry Building Services completed 6 years of MTC Term Contract providing the mechanical, electrical and building services at the Charnwood Site, acting as Principal Contractor with responsibility for all projects.

After closure was announced Derry Building Services were pivotal over a 2 year period acting as Principle Contractor for the decommissioning of the site and the removal of high performance equipment to other sites in Sweden, USA and the UK. 

M&E installations completed include:

Bio Bank - Installation of new M&E services to the new Bio Bank Facility with this area being used for storage and testing of human tissue with specific attention to:-

Upgrade of I.T. Network - Site wide upgrade of I.T. Network System including all laboratories and office space.

Energy Saving - Site wide energy saving initiatives consisting of the installation of a revised BMS strategy and the installation of new controls and associated equipment.

Bio Cells - A total of eighteen Agilent Bio Cells were decommissioned and upgraded to achieve CE compliance and TUV SUD compliance for the USA. This included the design and manufacture of new control panels and CAT 3 safety systems. DBS provided several teams to reassemble the Biocells in their new locations at Alderley Park Cheshire, Molndal Sweden and Boston USA. For eight consecutive years DBS received a Gold Standard for a consistent performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Value for Money. This combined with our contribution to the Safety Health and Environmental Improvement Plan resulted in our success receiving the ‘AstraZeneca Construction Award for safety’ which was presented at their annual awards.
