CAF Llanwern
The factory is over 46,000 square metres in size, with a floor area of 15,000 metres squared and internal volume of 167,125 metres cubed.
The plant, created for Spanish firm Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) is located on a 100 acre site in Llanwern, Newport. The factory is over 46,000 square metres in size, with a floor area of 15,000 metres squared and internal volume of 167,125 metres cubed.
The project comprises a main production warehouse, which has been designed to enable the flexibility to build a range of different trains including trams, suburban and intercity metro trains and high-speed trains. Internal rail tracks have been incorporated which will allow users to comfortably access and operate all areas of a train including the under carriage and roof areas.
Adjoining the warehouse is a two-storey office block and canteen facilities. Externally there is a paint spray booth, gatehouse and fully luminated carpark.
