The project consisted the design and construction of a new 131 bedroom turnkey Premier Inn hotel, including a fully fitted Thyme restaurant and kitchen on the ground floor.
The mechanical and electrical design and installations achieved Whitbread’s renewable target of not less than 30% reduction in co² emissions which included the use of PV cells to the roof. Pre-fabricated bathroom pods were installed to ensure a high quality finish, and to aid the speed of the construction.
A greywater system was installed which contributed to achieving BREEAM Very Good certification. Also a new electrical substation was incorporated within the ground floor of the hotel.
The building fills the footprint of the site and was built in close liaison with another contractor who were constructing a residential block adjacent to the site. This required the use of a shared access for both projects along with detailed management of logistics and the use of tower cranes.
